Empowering Bali’s Youth: Boys Move Takes Action Against Rising HIV/AIDS Rates

The annual rise in HIV/AIDS cases among teenagers poses a significant threat to the nation’s golden generation, placing them among the most vulnerable groups at risk of infection. This growing crisis, particularly the rising phenomenon of men who have sex with men (MSM), is driven in part by juvenile delinquency and negative social influences.

To confront this challenge, Boys Move was established. Comprising 20 male teenagers aged 14 to 24, this community focuses on empowering young men in Bali by providing vital education on HIV/AIDS and adolescent reproductive health. Over the next year, Boys Move has outlined eight strategic activities designed to boost public speaking, leadership, entrepreneurship, and scholarship opportunities among male youth in schools, alongside targeted outreach campaigns across both online and offline social media platforms.

The community has already made tangible progress. In February 2026, they successfully executed their Capacity Building and Digital Campaign initiatives. These activities effectively enhanced the members’ public speaking and soft skills, which they immediately put into practice by deploying educational social media content focused on the fundamental knowledge of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health.
