Positive prevention focuses on boosting the self-esteem of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) by actively involving them in prevention initiatives. Central to this approach is the meaningful involvement of PLWHA, ensuring their unique views and values directly shape program development.
At the Kerti Praja Foundation, we bring this philosophy to life through three core projects within our broader positive prevention program: testimonies and experience sharing, interactive theater, and peer education.
Through these initiatives, our goals are to:
Bridge the representation gap
Address the noticeable lack of involvement of PLWHA, particularly female sex workers, in Bali’s wider public discourse on HIV/AIDS.
Empower through expression
Build confidence and agency among positive female sex workers (FSW) by equipping them with public speaking and theatrical performance skills.
Innovate communication
Develop an effective, innovative model for HIV/AIDS messaging that is deeply rooted in local cultural contexts.
Facilitate meaningful dialogue
Connect positive female sex workers with their own communities as well as the general public to foster understanding and break down stigma.
